Entry requirements
Admitted to the master's programme in human computer interaction with at least 60 credits of which at least 30 credits human-computer interaction or computer science with a specialisation in human-computer interaction.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
Knowledge and understanding:
- demonstrate deep knowledge in a self-chosen part of the subject human-computer interaction
Skills and abilities:
- search and in a critical way interpret and compile relevant scientific literature
- in a critical way delimit a scientific problem, plan a scientifically based study of the problem, choose appropriate methods, interpret and evaluate the results as well as, where appropriate, be able to generate testable hypotheses to explain made observations.
- present empirical results in a correct and understandable way.
- give relevant and constructive criticism to others' texts that treat problems in the subject.
Judgement and approach:
- show awareness of possibilities and risks associated with research in the subject human-computer interaction and the use of results of such research
Content
The thesis work is an individual assignment that is presented in writing in an academic paper written in Swedish or English. The thesis should be presented orally at a seminar. At the seminar, the work should also be defended.
Instruction
Lectures and group supervision.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of the work as well as critical review on other Master's thesis in the subject. As a mark for the course one of the following will be used: passed with distinction, passed or failed.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator or a decision by the department's working group for study matters.
