Entry requirements
Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeobiology, 10 credits. Hydrology and Water Resource Management, 10 credits and Landscape Development, 10 credits, are recommended.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course the student should be able to:
- collect, classify and analyse field data relevant for the following subjects: litho- and biostratigraphy and hydrology
- process and interpret the collected data and present a written analysis in a professional manner
Content
Geological mapping and other field work in suitable environments. Compilation of geological maps and cross sections,
conduct computer-based data processing, and presentation of results as written report. The course includes subject-
integrated communication training with feedback and self-evaluation.
Instruction
Lectures, exercises and field work.
Assessment
Two written reports (2.5 credits each).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other directives
The field course will cause costs for travel and accommodation for the student.
The course cannot be included in the same degree as 1GV053.
