Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- list potential career paths in the evolving field of sustainable development
- analyze organizations and initiatives working towards sustainable development, including their mission, goals, and strategies.
- apply and integrate theories, concepts and tools covered in previous coursework to critically evaluate sustainability challenges in professional settings
- develop practical strategies that tackle sustainability challenges and contribute towards a sustainable future

Content
The student shall during 18 weeks (minimum) participate in a full-time internship, with an appointed supervisor within the host organisation. The work/tasks during the internship must have a clear relation to sustainable development, and enable the student to achieve the learning outcomes.
Instruction
Course introduction takes place at the university, while supervision is undertaken at the internship location.
Assessment
Continuous written assignments must be submitted during the internship period. A more comprehensive final written report and presentation must be completed by the end of the internship for the examiner.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other directives
- The responsibility to find a suitable internship is the responsibility of the student; the examiner may, if necessary, provide assistance.
- Before the start of the internship, the appointed host supervisor and the internship work plan must be approved by the examiner. The application for the internship (to the university) is made on a special application form provided by the course coordinator (through studium.uu.se).
- When the internship is concluded, the appointed supervisor shall issue a completion certificate on a separate form.
