How did you choose your programme?
– I studied software programming for my Bachelor’s degree. It was a cooperating programme between Sweden and China. Teachers from Dalarna University came to China each semester and taught courses about Information Systems. I found the courses interesting and enjoyed the teaching style, so I decided to continue studying this field in Sweden.

What is it like to be an international student?
– It’s super cool because I experienced totally different learning styles and lifestyles. I feel excited each time I try something new, and studying abroad exactly gives me an opportunity to do that. Being an international student also makes me more independent, because I have to learn to solve problems by myself without families and friends around.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The best infrastructures and teachers. Students are encouraged to explore the learning field. There is a nice learning environment and teachers always spare no effort to help students and give suggestions whenever we meet problems or confusions.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– To find out what I like and what I want to do in my whole life. In my view, studying provides a great way to explore the world.

What is your best experience so far?
– I have to mention that group work exists in almost all of my courses at Uppsala University, which is a big difference from the Chinese learning style. Group work really taught me know how to cooperate with different people and how to deal with situations where people have various opinions. As for activities, the Valborg celebration must be the most unforgettable one, students’ creativity and passion all leave a deep impression.

– The river (”Fyris River”) which runs through the city centre.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
– I work on the things I like and hopefully have time and money to travel around the world each year.

Where is the best place to study?
– Carolina library. I always sit by the huge window and enjoy the view in different seasons.

How did you choose your programme?

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The best thing is, without a doubt, the student life! It is so much fun being a student in Uppsala with all the fun activities going on all the time. It is the perfect mix between studies and fun.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala? Please tell us!
– My first impression of Uppsala, coming here as a student, was how beautiful the city is and how alive it feels. There is always something happening and the vibe here, with the old buildings and the history, combined with all the students is indescribable.

Name three things you are doing this week!
– This week I am hosting some events for the sports committee of Uppsala Systemvetare (the programme organisation). I am going to a student nation with my friends and then I will, for sure, watch Melodifestivalen (a Swedish song contest) this weekend.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– My goal is to be able to have a job that challenges me and where I can evolve every day, preferably from anywhere in the world. I love travelling and I want to continue doing that even when I am working.

Describe the student life
– Ooo, where to begin? It is amazing! Being a student in Uppsala is a blast! My best experience must have been when we celebrated Valborg for the first time after COVID-19, words can not really describe it.

– The botanical garden

Where do you see yourself in five years?
– In five years I see myself being happy and pleased with life, preferably living in a place where I can surf or ski, working with system development at a sustainability company with epic colleagues.

– As a student at the master´s program in Information systems you usually find yourself studying at Ekonomikum. However, I actually like studying from home as well.

How did you choose your programme?
– I wanted to do a programme that specialised in the practical aspects of computer science such as designing and building IT systems while being very mindful of the user's needs. It came down to choosing between US and European programmes. And Scandinavia won because of their greater priority on inclusivity!

What is it like to be an international student?
– It’s an exciting experience! From learning a new culture to making friends from all over the world, studying and living together in student corridors, and of course, trying out different types of winter sports. There’s always something to do every week!

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The fact that the most important thing is deeply understanding your subject and being given sufficient time and resources to do that, coupled with a very friendly world-class faculty & a fantastic cohort!

Name three things you are doing this week!
– Helping an elderly group refactor their website codebase; Attending a career fair in Stockholm; Going to Snerikes nation’s wild west-themed party.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– I believe the rate of technological change we see now is exponential and it poses risks for many in society not too far in the future. I want to help in mitigating these risks and finding good solutions.

What is your best experience so far?
– My best experience so far has been as a board member of our association ‘Uppsala Systemvetare’, where I got to organise fun events and contests, working alongside members from various programmes – and partying to celebrate all successful events!
