What we do
The centre promotes and coordinates cooperation in the field of neutron science across the borders of departments and faculties. While we are located at Uppsala University, we employ experimental capabilities available at national and international research centres.
Experimental methods using neutrons as a probe allow unique insights into the structure and dynamics of materials over length scales varying from atomic size to those of large objects. They are particularly useful for the investigation of materials that are complex mixtures, that contain predominantly light elements, or to study magnetism.
Neutrons provide valuable input to many disciplines that range from chemistry, physics and materials science to interdisciplinary studies such as those relevant to drug delivery, energy conversion, environmental effects of pollutants and studies of cultural heritage.
What we can do for you
We work to develop neutron science at Uppsala University and to increase relevant expertise. Specifically, we provide:
- Discussions about how neutron scattering can be used in your research,
- Information about education and training resources for new users,
- Information about access and use of neutron scattering facilities,
- Coordination of projects and applications for funding.
