Prof. John Marshall

John Marshall is a palaeobotanist who uses fossil pollen and spores to date deposits and reconstruct Devonian climate and environments, the first forests, and mass extinctions. He has extensively studied Devonian terrestrial records across the globe, most notably from Scotland, Greenland, Spitsbergen, the United States, China, Russia, Bolivia, and the Falkland Islands. He has worked closely with vertebrate palaeontologists before, for example on early Carboniferous tetrapods.

Prof. John Marshall is Professor of Earth Science at the School of Ocean and Earth Science with the National Oceanography Centre Southampton of the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. His departmental webpage can be found here
