Provisions concerning third-cycle qualifications at Uppsala University – amendment

On 10 November 2009, the National Agency for Higher Education adopted new regulations and general advice on the English translation of Swedish qualifications (HSVFS 2009:2). Consequently, on 27 January 2010, the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) issued revised recommendations on English translations of the supplementary designations for general qualifications (REK 2010:2). Based on these recommendations, the following translations are hereby adopted for use in translating thirdcycle qualifications at Uppsala University into English, when the degree application has been received after 31 January 2010:

With regard to the degree of licentiat, the National Agency for Higher Education has decided on the translation Licentiate. The above translations are therefore to be used, where relevant, substituting Licentiate for Doctor.
