Education at the Department
The education for students at the Department of Surgical Sciences is mainly conducted in the premises of Uppsala University Hospital. This means that different rooms throughout the hospital area are used for theoretical teaching, while much of the practical teaching is given in the various clinics. You as a student have a responsibility to come properly dressed and to treat patients, relatives and staff in a correct and respectful manner.
Most of the information for your course/program can be found via your course page on Studium.
The teaching staff
The teaching staff at the department have a strong clinical commitment in parallel with their educational work. Most of them, whether they are professors, lecturers or assistant professors, are clinically active. This means that they have positions that combine work as teachers/researchers with clinical service. In order to offer teaching with the highest level of specialist competence in as many fields as possible, purely clinical specialists are also booked for teaching.
