History
The Blåsenhus area has a history that stretches back 350 years. The land has long been in state ownership, and the activities within the area have been connected to the governor's residence at Uppsala Castle. The area got its name, Blåsen, because it was situated on one of the higher points in the Uppsala region, making it very exposed to the wind.
As early as the 1920s, the first city plan for the area was established, featuring large institutional buildings for the university. However, that plan was never implemented. Subsequently, in all overarching planning for the municipality, the area has been designated for public purposes and reserved for the university's future development. Today, several buildings stand on the site, including Blåsenhus Campus, which was initiated on April 20, 2007, and completed in 2009. The building was officially inaugurated on March 11, 2010. Blåsenhus was also awarded the Upsala Nya Tidning city environment prize in 2011.
The Campus Management
The staff at the campus management are dedicated to ensuring that Campus Blåsenhus is a welcoming and functional place for all visitors. The campus management has a broad portfolio of tasks, ranging from ensuring that the technology in the rooms operates smoothly to reviewing broken furniture arrangements.
The Administration Organization
The administration organization is a collaborative structure involving the institutions, departments, and units operating within the administration area. The administration's activities align with the rules established by the Rector in the 'Regulations for the Administration Organization at Uppsala University.' The administration is responsible for cost-effective coordination of the institutions' support functions for the core activities in education and research. This includes matters related to premises supply and other physical resources, safety, technical-physical work environment, and the environment. The administration organization can, in addition to receiving assignments from institutions, also undertake tasks from the rector and area/faculty boards
The administration is governed by the administration board, the composition of which is regulated by the Rector's decision from 2009. The head of the administration area serves as the chairperson of the administration board. The head, among other responsibilities, holds financial accountability for the collective operations and has employer responsibility for the employees in the unit. The head appoints the Area Superintendent.
The Area manager reports directly to the head of the area and acts as the rapporteur in the Intendance Board. The superintendent implements decisions of the Intendance Board and the head, takes necessary initiatives in matters falling under the responsibility of the Intendance Board, and has a coordinating responsibility for actions arising from the mission of the Intendance area.
Departments
Blåsenhus is home to two significant departments within Uppsala University: Department of psychology and Department of education. These departments conduct extensive activities spanning both teaching and research within their respective fields. Their research and teaching cover a diverse range of subjects within psychology and pedagogy, creating a rich environment for academic learning and knowledge development.
