SIHI Sweden Conference 2026

SIHI Sweden is hosting our fourth conference November 9-10 in Uppsala, Sweden. The theme of the conference is Implementation of Social Innovations for Health - Theory, Design and Practice.

From Ideas to Action: Implementing Social Innovation in Health

Our health system is facing many complex challenges. An aging population, rising mental health issues, and changing demographic conditions require new ways of thinking and acting to ensure sustainable and equitable health for all. While social innovations in health continue to generate promising ideas and solutions, a major challenge remains: how do we successfully implement these innovations in real-world settings and create lasting change?

Through the SIHI Sweden conference we are bringing together researchers, practitioners, community leaders, policymakers and students from different sectors to share experiences and explore how implementation can be designed, evaluated, adapted, and scaled in different contexts. Our focus on implementation aims to inspire to move innovative ideas from theory to practice

Through keynote lectures, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will engage with questions such as:

How can social innovations be effectively implemented and sustained?
What enables behavioural and systems change?
How can communities and stakeholders be meaningfully involved in implementation processes?
What methods and frameworks can support scaling and adaptation across contexts?
How can implementation contribute to more equitable and sustainable health outcomes?

While strengthening networks and creating possibilities for collaboration and new partnerships, the conference works as a catalyst for new initiatives locally and globally.

Speakers

Anna Bergström

Anna Bergström is a associate professor of global health at Uppsala University. Her research focuses on the implementation of evidence-based interventions in maternal, neonatal, and child health, as well as on how research findings can be translated into practice in various health care systems. Anna will through her keynote explore what we actually mean by implementation.

The registration is binding. There is no cancellation or refund of the registration fee, after registration is made.

If you are not able to participate, you are welcome to give your spot to a colleague/friend. Please contact the conference coordinator if you want to change your name and participation for another person. If you need to cancel your registration, please contact the conference coordinator to minimise food waste.
