Mounir Karadja appointed research director of UIL
Mounir Karadja is the new research director for Uppsala Immigration Lab.
Mounir Karadja has been appointed as the new research director of Uppsala Immigration Lab. He is a Associate Senior Lecturer at Uppsala University. His work focuses on applied microeconomics, with particular emphasis on migration, political economy, economic history, and economic development.
Mounir's research examines how migration and broader societal transformations affect economic and political outcomes. He is also an invited researcher at J-PAL Europe and has conducted several randomized controlled trials of programs to improve immigrant integration.
As the new research director, Mounir is eager to continue developing the Lab.
“I look forward to working more closely with the excellent researchers in our network. I hope to expand the UIL network further and increase our interactions with top international migration researchers,” says Mounir.
His ambition is to create more opportunities for collaboration and exchange of knowledge.
“My ambition is to continue developing UIL by expanding our activities and creating new opportunities for collaboration. This includes applying for grants, organizing workshops and seminars, and inviting international researchers to broaden our expertise and strengthen UIL’s research environment,” he says.
A central part of the lab’s activities will continue to be its regular meetings.
“The core of activity is in our regular meetings where members connect with likeminded scholars and share research at various stages of development to improve their work,” he says.
