Social networks and immigrant integration
The purpose of this project is to provide causal evidence on the effects of social networks on immigrant integration. This will be done through a collaboration with the non-profit organization Nya Kompisbyrån, which matches established and new Swedes together for informal meetings.
The project aims to estimate the effect of these informal meetings on the integration of immigrants in terms of self-perceived inclusion, labor market outcomes, housing, economy, health and attitudes.
The method we use is randomized controlled trials and we will follow up participants using a combination of surveys and register data. Overall, this project should be of high importance both from a scientific and policy perspective since we know very little about what works and what does not work when it comes to integration today.
