About us
The Anders Sandrew Institute for Culture and Creativity was founded in 2025 at Uppsala University to strengthen and connect research and collaboration in the fields of culture, creativity, and artistic development.
Goals
The institute promotes innovative, interdisciplinary research and advances understanding of the role of culture and creativity in society.
During its first five years, the institute focuses on fostering groundbreaking research projects, deepening knowledge about culture’s significance in people’s lives, creating recurring cross-disciplinary meeting arenas, and expanding the volume of externally funded research.
Leadership
The institute is led by a board and a director, and is situated within the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, hosted by the Department of Art History. Its activities are funded by a five-year annual donation of SEK 10 million from the Anders Sandrew Foundation.
