As BMC's environmental chemist, I have an advisory function within external and internal environmental issues, primarily towards the departments within the BMC's campus, but if necessary, I am also helpful to other campuses departments.

CURRENT JOB

Provides ongoing advice on external and internal environmental issues, purchasing issues/strategy/LOU, local issues to the research and education activities at BMC, the Unit for Environment and Physical Work Environment, the Unit for Procurement and Purchasing, the Local Project Unit, the Local Maintenance Unit and, if necessary, other administrative areas and its institutions.

• Information officer in environmental and safety issues with own websites.

BIOGRAPHY

I have good knowledge from private, municipal and state employers and here I would like to try to account for the experiences I have gained over the years.

I have worked as a manager with personnel responsibility at Uppsala Municipality, SAKAB (NG Nordic Sweden AB) and Laxspan.

In all positions I have acted as a service provider. Areas of responsibility I would like to highlight are planning and implementation of service production including revenue calculation of sales from services as well as materials. This is mainly at Uppsala Municipality, Ragnsells AB, Energi & Miljökonsult and SAKAB (NG Nordic Sweden AB).

From here I consider myself to have gained good experience from procurement and purchasing of materials and services. Of course, supplier assessment has been a natural part of that work.

Financial issues are a natural part of my work, as I have independently been the one or among those at the job who have used the administrative systems that each employer has.

Therefore, I think I can be said to be an experienced user of electronic quotation and invoicing systems with experience from, for example, SAKAB (NG Nordic Sweden AB), Uppsala Municipality and now Uppsala University where I work in the Raindance portal. Of course, I also manage the Primula system.

At Uppsala Municipality, SAKAB (NG Nordic Sweden AB) and Laxspan I was directly involved in, and in the first two positions responsible for, the workplace's premises and facilities issues and thus responsible for the operating and maintenance costs for these as well as responsible for the vehicles used.

In addition to my positions, as the son of a plumber, with countless hours behind me in my father's various construction projects on villas and crofts over the years, I can consider myself to have a fairly decent technical-practical background.

I have always been interested in and curious about IT technology and its possibilities. I consider myself technically knowledgeable in that area. This interest has led me to "cheating a bit" with my own private websites and in my current position, I am responsible for my own page on the BMC superintendent's intranet.

I claim to have always been a driving force in improving the dissemination of information, with a preference for the use of electronic aids.

My guiding principle throughout my career has been to show respect for, and work for, better protection for people and the environment, since we only have one life, one world, one chance to do right.

I have therefore felt deeply committed to physical and psychosocial work environment issues for many years and have therefore taken a keen interest in SAM issues as well as SBA issues at every workplace.

My commitment has led to my previously having the trust to work as deputy chief safety officer at BMC. In addition, my employer has given me the assignment as fire safety inspector and active participation in the planning of the upcoming evacuation exercise at BMC.

Quality systems are another issue that I am very passionate about, and honestly believe in the possibility of one in large parts of Uppsala University. At Laxspan and SAKAB (NG Nordic Sweden AB), I helped introduce quality systems according to ISO standards, and at Svenska Rayon we continuously worked according to national and international standard methods with requirements for third-party inspection.

As a person, I have always felt liked and respected and have often been the one that colleagues and staff talked to in addition to purely work-related matters. I therefore consider myself to have good social skills and believe that I am an easy-going person to be around.

Despite my CV, I have not worked as a pure chemist since 1993. That I have more strings to my lyre than chemistry is well demonstrated by the above statement and also when you read the last part of my degree title in English, which is "MSc in chemical and administrative science".

What I want to say is that I do not see myself primarily as a chemist but rather would like to call myself a generalist, who knows a little of a lot rather than a lot of a little, and does not back down when faced with new tasks.
