Short presentation
My primary research area is the evolution of antibiotic resistance in bacterial populations. I investigate this by evolving bacteria in the presence of antibiotics and then using whole genome sequencing and genetic techniques to reconstruct the evolutionary steps that occurred during the development of resistance. I do this using both existing antibiotics and novel compounds under development. Through this I hope to understand the mechanisms by which bacterial populations develop resistance.
