Short presentation
Dr Fredrik Sjöstrand is a Senior Lecturer at Department of Business Studies. Fredrik lectures on subjects related to organisation theory, network organisations, organizational culture, leadership, sustainability, marketing and scientific methods. He has supervised and examined several Bachelor’s and Master’s students. His research interests include network organisations, virtual organisations, information technology, and destination governance.
Biography
Dr Fredrik Sjöstrand is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University. Fredrik lectures on subjects related to organisation theory, network organisations, social networks, organisation culture, leadership, corporate responsibility, sustainability, marketing and scientific methods. After his doctoral research at Stockholm University, which explored the coordination mechanisms in network organisations, he went on to become the Head of the Department of Business Administration and Economics at Gotland University (2005-2009).
Fredrik has been Programme Director of the Master’s programme in Sustainable Management and has held several positions at Gotland University and Uppsala University. Fredrik has been a recurrent guest lecturer at the University of Western Cape in South Africa as well as at Stockholm University. He has supervised and examined several Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
His research interests include network organisations, virtual organisations, social networks, information technology, sustainable tourism and destination governance. Fredrik has previously been involved in research projects in the manufacturing industry, SME innovation, and entrepreneurship and development. He has been engaged in the VITS programme at Linköping University. This programme conducted research in several fields, including the use of IT and its impact on business processes and IT. He has been participating in a multi-disciplinary research project investigating the development of networks in the wind power industry and sustainable destination governance. Before Fredrik´s business studies, he studied chemical engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology and worked in a research and development laboratory.
Fredrik is originally from the Swedish island Gotland in the Baltic Sea.
