Dr. Fredrik Sjöstrand is an senior lecturer at Uppsala University. Fredrik lectures in subjects related to organisation theory, network organisations, social networks, management behaviour and leadership, corporate responsibility, sustainability, marketing and scientific methods. He is a recurrent guest teacher at the University of Western Cape in South Africa and Stockholm University.
Biography
Dr. Fredrik Sjöstrand is an senor lecturer at Uppsala University. Fredrik lectures in subjects related to organisation theory, network organisations, social networks, management behaviour and leadership, corporate responsibility, sustainability, marketing and scientific methods. He is a recurrent guest teacher at the University of Western Cape in South Africa and Stockholm University. After his doctoral research at Stockholm University, which explored the coordination mechanisms in network organisations, he was Head of the department for business administration and economics at Gotland University (2005-2009). Fredrik is the Programme Director of the Master’s programme in International Management and he has had several positions at Gotland University and has supervised and examined many Bachelor’s and Master’s students throughout the years.
His research interests include network organisations, virtual organisations, social networks and information technology. He has been involved in research projects in the manufacturing industry and SME innovation, and in entrepreneurship and development. Fredrik has been engaged in the VITS programme at Linköping University which conducts research on the use of IT and its business impact and business processes and IT etc. He is currently taking part in a multi-disciplinary research project investigating the development of networks in the wind power industry. Prior to Fredrik´s business studies he studied chemical engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology and he has worked in a research and development laboratory at Cementa. Fredrik is originally from the Swedish island Gotland in the Baltic Sea. He lives with his family in Stockholm and Visby since he teaches at different locations. He has two children - one grown-up daughter and a three year old son.
