Research

I am a social anthropologist and I have conducted extensive fieldwork research in Canada, Norway, and Sweden. I focus in particular on circumpolar islands and on issues of authenticity, heritage, and tourism. I also have a keen interest in visuality, in particular photography and its social roles. I am currently working on a long-term project on how Gotland tour guides' narratives and physical paths create particular tourism imaginaries that can have important consequences for Gotland as a tourist destination.
