Short presentation

I conduct interdisciplinary research and teach primarily in social welfare law and migration law. My work engages with contemporary transformations of the welfare state, with a particular focus on human rights, migration, children’s rights, minority issues, and questions of integration.

I have been affiliated with the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research on Religion and Society (CRS) since 2021 and serve on its Scientific Advisory Board for the period 2025–2027.

Biography

I am an Associate Professor (Docent) in Sociology of Law and a Senior Lecturer in Administrative Law, with a specialisation in Social Welfare Law, at the Department of Law. My research and teaching sit at the intersection of law, the welfare state, and social vulnerability, with a particular focus on social welfare law and migration law.

I teach primarily in the final year of the law programme, as well as on the social work programme, where I serve as course convenor for Law and Social Work (RoSA I and II) together with my colleague, Dr Tim Holappa. In my teaching, I focus on how legal frameworks operate in practice and shape outcomes for individuals and groups in vulnerable situations.

My academic background is both international and interdisciplinary. I was awarded my PhD by Stockholm University in 2016 and was subsequently appointed Docent (Associate Professor) in Sociology of Law at Uppsala University 2022. I have held postdoctoral positions at both Uppsala University and Stockholm University, working within research environments focused on migration, integration, and children’s rights. I have also previously worked as a Senior Lecturer in Social Work with a specialisation in administrative law.

In addition to research and teaching, I have experience in research leadership, project development, and academic collaboration within larger research environments. Prior to my academic career, I worked in research administration at Australian Catholic University in Sydney.

My educational background includes degrees from Stockholm University (BSocSc, LL.M., PhD) and a Master of Human Rights from the University of Sydney, as well as law studies at Universidad de Chile.
