Short presentation

Postdoctoral researcher in anthropology specialising in the historical anthropology of religion. Drawing on long-term ethnographic fieldwork among the Sihanaka of Madagascar, my research explores ritual, cosmology, and human–metahuman relations. I also engage broader debates in Austronesian studies and the comparative anthropology of religion, with particular attention to immanentist cosmologies.

Research

My postdoctoral research , "A People Without History"? Reclaiming the Sihanaka Past through Collaborative Historiography, develops a collaborative historiography with Sihanaka communities in Madagascar, responding to local efforts to reclaim a past long marginalised by colonial narratives and national heritage politics. Integrating oral traditions, archival sources, and long-term ethnographic fieldwork, the project reconstructs histories of sovereignty, slavery, and migration while situating the Sihanaka within wider Indian Ocean worlds. More broadly, the research examines how histories are produced, negotiated, and authorised, foregrounding plurality, disagreement, and silence as constitutive elements of the historical record. In doing so, it contributes to debates on decolonial methodology and the transformation of oral knowledge into written history.
