Short presentation
My research focuses on vegetation and population dynamics in boreo-nemoral and boreal forest and alpine ecosystems and covers community and population structure and dynamics. I have also worked together with several colleagues in tropical ecosystems with effects of wild-fires and plant-animal interaction in Serengeti NP in Tanzania and effects of elephants on vegetation and interactions with other animals in Chobe NP in Botswana. I retired in 2008, but I am still active in research.
Biography
I started my studies in Chemistry, Zoology, Genetics and Botany at Uppsala University in 1960. I took my PhD in 1975 at this Department, ([Växtbiologiska institutionen] at that time called Department of Plant Ecology) and held a position as Associate professor between 1975 and 1992. In 1992 I became professor in Plant ecology at the University in Trondheim, later called Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway. In 2008, at age 70 years, I retired. I am now visiting professor at my old Department at Uppsala university, Department of Ecology and Genetics, Plant ecology and evolution.
