. Professor in Human Geography - settlement and built environment, title from Uppsala University, December 2011.
· Licenciate of Philosophy, 1986, Department of Geography, Catholic University of Chile, Santiago, (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) with the thesis: El Programa de Erradicación de Campamentos en la Región Metropolitana de Santiago (1979-1984): Implicancias Socioeconómicas y Espaciales.
· Doctor degree in Human Geography at the Department of Social & Economic Geography, Uppsala University, 1997, with the doctoral dissertation: Stadens rasifiering. Etnisk boendesegregation i folkhemmet. (Racialization of the City. Ethnic Residential Segregation in the Swedish Folkhem). Geografiska regionstudier Nr 32, Kulturgeografiska institutionen, Uppsala universitet.
