Bengt Sennblad

Short presentation

I work as a manager of the NBIS Health and Clinical Support team, which is part of the Support unit of the SciLifeLab Bioinformatics platform (NBIS). The team provides advanced bioinformatics support and training to Swedish life science, focusing on studies with medical and health-related questions.

Biography

I have a PhD in Biology and an Associate professorship in Computer Science. My previous research span molecular evolution of plants, probabilistic models and algorithms for studying gene family evolution in a multispecies context, analyses and development of new methods in genome-wide association analysis, particularly in relation to cardiovascular disease.

Research

We mainly work with human data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and phenotypic/clinical information. Our work includes consultation and hands-on support in study design, data processing, genetic associations, biomarker identification, cancer genomics, multi-omics integration and machine learning. We are engaged in the SciLifeLab & Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS), by providing bioinformatics support within the DDLS Precision Medicine research area.
