Abstract:
Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) is undoubtedly one of the world’s most influential practitioners of science. This book provides insights into the hands-on practice of Linnean eighteenth-century natural history and medicine and an inroad into how to access this field today. It presents essays by leading scholars of Linnaeus and the Linnaeans, eighteenth-century science and collecting, books and manuscripts. These essays comprise both original research and give an exciting insight into the possibilities offered by Linnaean research materials.
