Zetterberg Prize Lectures

The Hans L. Zetterberg Prize in Sociology is awarded annually to young researchers from Sweden or abroad, who with their scholarly work in sociology, preferably by fruitfully combining theory and practice, have advanced the research front. The prize sum is SEK 100,000 (USD 11,000 or EUR 9,500). On this website you can see the Zetterberg Prize lectures from the recent years. Some of them are in Swedish and some in English.

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2024

The Hans L Zetterberg prize of 2024 is awarded to docent Per Engzell, University College London and Stockholm University, for his path breaking research on social stratification and different forms of social inequality that has generated actionable results. His research has advanced our understanding of social inequality processes and has also generated actionable policy oriented results.

 

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2023

Emanuel Deutschmann is awarded the Prize 2023 for his contributions to the study of transnational migration, among others the development of a network-analytical approach to the study of the social dimension of regional integration in a global perspective, and for the work he has done to create an original open-access dataset on transnational mobility.

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2022

The sociologist Adel Daoud, is awarded the Zetterberg Prize 2022 for “his innovative contributions to social science research on classical social issues such as child poverty, ill-health and justice. In the spirit of Hans Zetterberg, he has made theoretical contributions that have practical implications for some of the most pressing global challenges that we are facing today.

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2021

The political scientist Anders Sundell is awarded the prize 2021 for augmenting the field of political sociology by approaching it from a broad social science perspective. His research spans several fields, and includes election studies, succession order, and the study of fundamental norms and values. Not least his contribution to examining the relationship between informally grown norms and formal systems of rules deserves attention.

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2020

The Hans L Zetterberg prize of 2020 is awarded to Lisa Lindén, Associate Professor in Sociology. Lindén does research about medical technologies and their relation to the gendered body. She often focuses on how medical technologies are enacted, adjusted and problematised in public arenas and in everyday healthcare.

 

Zetterberg Prize Lecture 2019

Joscha Legewie is awarded the Hans L. Zetterberg prize 2019 for his innovative studies within classic and central fields in sociology, including, race, education, and criminology. Joscha Legewie is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Harvard University.
