Ask us about power, politics and democracy!
Between 7 and 11 September, political scientists from Uppsala University will be out and about in a city square, available to answer questions and discuss the elections, what actually happens in the Riksdag and the government, and how Swedish democracy works.
If you've ever pondered questions like:
- Why should I vote? Does my vote really matter?
- How does democracy work and why is it good?
- How is a government formed and what do they actually do in the Riksdag?
- Why is it important for a range of groups to have a voice in a democracy?
- What do politicians actually decide on? And what do they not decide on?
- What are the rights and obligations of us citizens in a democracy?
- What are the differences between the political parties and what is an ideology?
- How can I myself participate and have an influence?
Would you like to discuss a question like this with someone who researches power, politics and democracy and who is not affiliated with any political party? Then visit Forumtorget the week before the election and meet us political scientists downtown!
More than a hundred people work at the Department of Political Science at Uppsala University, doing research and teaching that is about understanding power, politics and democracy in Sweden and other countries. During the week before the elections, we will be at Forumtorget to answer questions. We want to contribute our knowledge, and our aim is to complement what the political parties are doing in their election campaigns as well as provide some insights into political science research.
We will be available at Forumtorget in Uppsala from 7 to 11 September between 10 am and 5 pm (on 9 September, we will be there until 4 pm).
