The title of the lecture is "Take a chance on me!": From the promise of equality of educational opportunity for all to incentivizing individual students' self-marketing for scarce opportunities

This talk will address recent significant changes in the ways educational opportunity is being framed by policy-makers and educational institutions and understood and enacted by students. Using data from two qualitative research studies on access to higher education and widening participation schemes in French higher education institutions, it will analyze both present policy and institutional discourses and devices and the perspectives and experiences of female and male students from different social and ethnoracial backgrounds.
