Visiting Researcher Program

To encourage academic collaboration and international exchange, the Democracy and Higher Education research program is launching a visiting researcher program.

The visiting researcher program gives researchers in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Uppsala University the chance to invite foreign colleagues to spend some time as visiting researchers at Uppsala University. The invited researcher and the research activity to be conducted during the stay must fit in thematically with, and contribute to, the activities of Democracy and Higher Education (see thematic focus).

Applications may be submitted by researchers working in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The application must be submitted using a special application form. Applications are made on behalf of a department by an individual researcher with the approval of the head of department.

Application

The application must include:

• CVs for the applicant and the visiting researcher.
• A list of researchers and institutions that will benefit from the visiting researcher.
• Specified time period for the planned stay, from two weeks to two months.
• A description of the purpose of the visit and what scientific output is expected.
• A plan for how the stay will benefit the program's activities and the applicants in the short and long term.

During the stay, the visiting researcher will give a lecture co-organized with Democracy and Higher Education, present their research, and participate in the program's activities.

What you can apply for:

• The program only covers travel and accommodation costs for the visiting researcher during the specified period, including overhead costs (not rooms and IT).
