Additive Manufacturing Networks
Additive manufacturing and 3D-printing is a strategic focus area in the region of Uppsala and there are several initiatives and networks to engage in.
AM4Life – Additive Manufacturing for the Life Sciences Competence centre
AM4Life is a Vinnova-funded competence center involving +35 partners from academia, industry and healthcare, performing internationally leading research, development and eduction in additive manufacturing. AM4Life was established 2020 and have recently received additional 5 years of funding (2025-2029) from Vinnova and the partners associated. AM4Life is led by Uppsala University.

PULSE
PULSE is an innovation arena for medical 3D-printing in Uppsala, currently funded by the European regional development fund and Region Uppsala, aiming to strengthen the innovation ecosystem for 3D-printing for Life sciences and healthcare by facilitating and performing certain actions. Current focus includes establishing a 3D-printing facility at Uppsala University Hospital and facilitating access for external users at Uppsala Universities 3D-printing lab infrastructures. PULSE is led by Uppsala University and Region Uppsala.

WISE Additive
WISE Additive is a national research and technology platform focused on additive manufacturing lab infrastructure and resources, including the nodes Uppsala University, Chalmers University of Technology, and Linköping University. The initiative is led by X and funded by Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation via WISE, the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability.

National collaboration of 3D-printing in healthcare
Region Uppsala is leading a strategic project to support implementation of 3D-printing in healthcare by national collaboration. The project is funded by Medtech4Health/Vinnova.
