CIRCUS welcomes three new research networks for 2026-2027
CIRCUS will from January 2026 be a part of the new Uppsala University Future Institutes (UUniFI). The aim of UUniFI is to create a university wide platform for stimulating research characterised by excellence and originality using interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.
CIRCUS will, apart from helping the other UUniFI institutes, continue to support many different forms of multi- and interdisciplinary research within Uppsala university. Yet, CIRCUS designated base in humanities and social sciences is now gone. The change made it possible to open this year’s call for support to research networks to main applicants from all the scientific domains across Uppsala University.
The call to support research networks closed on 2 October 2025. A total of 18 applications were received. These were carefully reviewed by three external experts. After prioritization, three networks were proposed for support, with representation from each of the three scientific domains.
The Board of CIRCUS decided on 25 November 2025 to grant support to three new networks for the period 2026-2027.
Research Network on Computational Social Science
Network leader: Matteo Magnani, Institutionen för informationsteknologi. The network initially involves researchers from the following faculties: Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Educational Sciences.
Restricted Records, People and Society (REPLY)
Network leader: Isto Huvila, Institutionen för ABM. The network initially involves researchers from the following faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Languages.
Ätstörningar och kroppsuppfattning hos unga kvinnor
Network leader: Emma Hovén, Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsa. The network initially involves researchers from the following faculties: Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Arts.
