PhD student awarded Bernadotte scholarship

The Royal Swedish Academy of Music has awarded Satyanita Emma Sohlgren, a PhD student at the Department of Musicology, one of its scholarships within the Bernadotte Programme for 2026. The Bernadotte Programme is a collaboration between the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, the Swedish Academy and the Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folklore Studies. Satyanita Emma Sohlgren is awarded the scholarship for the project The first Swedish comic operas 1738-1753. The first operas and Singspiels in Swedish were performed by the theatre group Swenska Comedien in Stockholm. These plays form an important, but largely forgotten, part of Swedish opera history.
