VASCERN Summer School

VASCERN Summer School is a summer school on rare cardiovascular diseases. It is primarily aimed at medical students, master’s students and doctoral students, and the purpose is to increase knowledge and build a European network of future experts in the field.

About the summer school

The summer school is organised by VASCERN, a European reference network funded by the EU, that brings together specialist clinics, researchers and patient organisations to improve healthcare and knowledge of rare cardiovascular diseases. The course is delivered in collaboration with a hospital in Paris, and student mobility is funded through Erasmus+.

Structure of the programme

The summer school is a blended intensive programme (a hybrid format) and consists of a virtual and a physical component.

The virtual component is held during the spring semester and consists of online lectures, webinars and workshops that provide a theoretical foundation. The physical component is held over one week in September in Paris with lectures, case studies, practical sessions, and meetings with experts and patients.

The summer school usually has about 20 participants, and students from all partner universities apply in competition with one another. It is therefore not possible to determine how many students from Uppsala University will be offered a place. The summer school corresponds to 3 ECTS.

Application period

Applications for VASCERN Summer School 2027 are expected to open in October 2026.
