Spouses

This page provides information for spouses about finding a job and learning Swedish.

Finding a job

One of the challenges of moving to a new country as an accompanying spouse is finding an occupation.

Uppsala International Hub arranges programs to help people to get a job in Sweden. You can find their upcoming events in their event calendar.

At the Swedish Public Employment service you’ll find webinars on for example how to write a CV and how to succeed in a job interview.

Euraxess Sweden offer spouse support, such as webinars and useful information at their website. Read more about their spouse support at Euraxess Sweden's website.

Swedish language courses

Please note that although Swedes are happy to speak English, it is still hard to find a job if you do not speak Swedish. There is a cost-free course in Swedish for non-Swedes as soon as you have received your personal identity number, called Svenska för invandrare – often abbreviated as SFI. We recommend you to contact SFI as soon as possible.
