A sustainable university
What makes a university sustainable? Both visions and practical initiatives are needed. As a public authority, Uppsala University must work actively according to an environmental management system (EMS). An EMS shows both how the university works today and forward with our indirect and direct environmental and climate impact. A central part of Uppsala University's envrionmental management system is the University's environmental plan.
Head of departments and equivalent have a designated responsibility in the environmental plan to work actively within their activities to achieve the goals. They have environmental representatives to support them. Engaged students and other employees also drive the university forward.
