The seminar is based on a literature review:
"Diaconia as Christian Social Practice: Nordic Approaches to Diaconal Studies" in the 2025 anthology Diaconia in Contexts - Regional Case Studies and Linking Perspectives.
The authors of the chapter, Annette Leis-Peters (VID) and Martha Middlemiss Le Mon (CRS), present their reading of Nordic diaconal research and discuss the question "is there a Nordic approach to theology of diaconia?"
Thematically, several themes can be distinguished - which also constitute challenges - in Nordic research:
• Diaconal theology as ecclesiology - the mutual relationship between church and diaconia;
• Diaconal practice - the relationship between diaconia and the welfare state;
• The diaconal mission in a multi-religious social context.
