The research network Church, Class and Capitalism
This interdisciplinary network has been created to connect historically oriented sociology of religion and socially oriented church history with the aim of establishing a foundation for future research on the Church of Sweden and the role of free church movements in the modernization of Swedish society. The historical and current hegemony of capitalism and its significance for organizations as well as the identity of individuals constitute a central challenge for the network's research. The professors of sociology of religion and church history at the Department of Theology at Uppsala University, Mia Lövheim and Urban Claesson, have initiated and are responsible for the network. The network has received support from the Berndt Gustafsson Research Fund and from the Faculty of Theology's strategic funds.
In addition to those mentioned above, members of the network are: Erik Sidenvall, professor of practical theology at Lund University, Anne Berg, lecturer in history at Gothenburg University and lecturer in pedagogy at Uppsala University, Sara Fransson, doctor of political science and active at the Church of Sweden's research and analysis unit, Daniel Lövheim, educational historian and active as a senior lecturer in pedagogy at Stockholm University, and Stefan Gelfgren, associate professor in sociology of religion and lecturer in religious didactics at Umeå University.
