Abstract: A decade after completing my Ph.D. at CBA, I have had the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of industrial image analysis and computer vision projects—from early prototypes to deployed products. Through deep dives into selected projects, I will reflect on the transition from academic research to industrial application, and how a research mindset can remain invaluable—even outside the lab.
I have always been passionate about technical innovation. Since completing my Ph.D. at CBA in 2015 I have worked at the technical consultancy firm Savantic AB in Stockholm, in both developer and team-leading roles. This has been a great opportunity to gain broad experience from applying image analysis and computer vision in many different areas, e.g., healthcare, public transport, automotive, and process industry.
