Calls for all members of ENLIGHT
ENLIGHT+, seed funding for new activities!
The aim of the call is to facilitate the organisation of joint small-scale projects, collaborative events, or workshops, while also encouraging initiatives that actively contribute to the advancement of sustainability practices and the promotion of inclusivity within our academic ecosystem.
- Academics, administrative staff members, PhD candidates, and students from ENLIGHT universities can apply.
- The proposed initiatives involve colleagues from at least three ENLIGHT universities.
- Outputs (courses, events) should be open for participation of staff and students of all ENLIGHT universities.
Applicants from Uppsala University must provide approval from the head of the department, or equivalent, as the funds cannot cover indirect costs. This can be in the form of an e-mail. Funds will be paid out to the organisational unit of the main applicant at UU.
- The activity should be completed within 12 months approval of the funds.
- If the planned activity can be funded by other sources, such as Erasmus staff exchange, the application may be returned with a request to apply for such funds.

ENLIGHT Incubation Grants
ENLIGHT Incubation Grants 2024 support joint development of educational initiatives within the six focus areas of the ENLIGHT university alliance:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Digitalization
- Climate Change
- Energy and Circular Economy
- Equity
- Culture & Creativity
The grant can support a variety of education formats. Examples include virtual exchange, blended programs, living labs, summer schools, virtual exchange, COIL, co-teaching initiatives, joint minors and double/joint degree programs, but other formats are welcome as well. Initiatives must award a transcript of records.
Approximately 10 projects will be selected in 2024, with additional calls planned for Spring 2025 and Spring 2026. Selected initiatives receive up to €30,000, covering various costs. Applications must involve at least three ENLIGHT universities for physical/blended formats, or two for virtual formats, and be completed by June 30, 2027.

ENLIGHT Thematic Networks
Would you like to establish a multidisciplinary network together with new or existing contacts within the ENLIGHT network?
The purpose of these funds is to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration around challenge-based activities that connect education and research through the establishment of thematic networks.
Up to 150,000 euros can be applied for by each selected network:
In your application, you need to provide a brief description of how the funds will be used and with whom you plan to collaborate. Funds can be used for coordination and operations; personnel costs, travel expenses, costs for hosting events (conferences, seminars, etc.). The network should include academics from at least three partner universities in the ENLIGHT network. The activity should be carried out within three years.

ENLIGHT Conferences
ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference
The fifth annual ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference will take place in October 2025 in Uppsala! The conference aims to engage participants in open, international, and interdisciplinary discussions on innovative pedagogical methods.
Applicants are invited to contribute through oral presentations, poster presentations, interactive and/or collaborative workshops, or idea development sessions. Deadline for contributions: April 15, 2025
We invite academics, students, alumni, educational developers and administrative staff from ENLIGHT universities to share their experiences. The conference has no participation fee.
This year's conference theme is ‘Playfulness for the Future of Higher Education’.
Sub-themes include:
Collaboration: Working together with peers to achieve deep learning and stronger results than would be achieved alone. Focusing skills on fostering constructive relationships for effective team efforts.
Discovery & Experimentation: Imagine meeting a new challenge by brainstorming with classmates, discussing potential ways forward, trying out approaches, discussing the outcomes and refining your approach. Unveil clues and test your theories as you proceed!
Futuring: Combine exploration, data collection and analytical skills to shine a light on the range of possible futures for societal changes. Creative approaches representing the future of society (e.g. artistry, music, theatre etc.) are also welcomed.
Gameplay: Applying game design theories to educational activities to promote engagement and active participation.
Toys & Tools: How to use physical and digital tools to encouraging playful and active learning.
