ENLIGHT General meeting 22–24 November in Uppsala.
On 22–24 November 2023, around 150 people from the ten European universities within the university alliance ENLIGHT gathered in Uppsala and on the occasion the ENLIGHT Rectors endorsed joint Open Science principles.

ENLIGHT Rectors endorse joint Open Sciences principles at Uppsala General meeting.
Uppsala has been the presiding university within the ENLIGHT alliance during the second half of 2023, and from 22–24 November, the ENLIGHT General Meeting was held at Uppsala University. The meeting was attended by executives, rectors, directors, programme coordinators, project managers, and several other individuals from the ten universities in the alliance. In total, around 150 people participated in outlining plans for the upcoming four years.
On occation on the General Meeting in Uppsala the 10 ENLIGHT Rectors endorsed joint Open Science principles. With the joint statement ENLIGHT aims to create a common basis for an Open Science culture.
ENLIGHT is committed to implementing an ‘open by default’ approach to online resources, for its teaching, research, outreach and engagement activities, for the benefit of science and society.
As an enabler of the quality and impact Open Science plays a key role in the ENLIGHT universities’ higher education transformation agendas. It is a powerful driver for transparency, accountability and reusability and increases collaboration.
Main elements of our joint statement are the broad promotion of Open Science with training and sharing of good practices, the importance of FAIR data principles, unrestricted Open Accesss to publications, the support of Open Education materials and Responsible Research Assessment.
