Biography
I am a geologist by training, holding a degree from LMU München and a Ph.D. from Uppsala University. During my Ph.D. and the following years, I focussed on the tectonic evolution of the Eurasian High Arctic during the Neoproterozoic and Paleozoic eras, conducting extensive fieldwork on the Arctic islands of Siberia and Svalbard. In the mid- to late 2000s, I began my commitment to scientific drilling. This eventually led to managing the scientific operations of the international 'Collisional Orogeny in the Scandinavian Caledonides' projects (ICDP COSC), a deep engagement with 'Riksriggen' — the Swedish research infrastructure for scientific drilling hosted by Lund University — and the co-development of the ICDP drilling management system, mDIS.
As a long-standing advocate for Openness — initially in software, and subsequently in data and science — I have been involved with the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) since its inception in 2010. Currently, I am active within the EPOS geological community (TCS Geological Information and Modeling) and serve as the manager of the national research infrastructure 'EPOS Sweden', which oversees the Swedish contribution to EPOS ERIC.
