Short presentation
Andreas Bergh is Professor of Education. Prior to time in the academy, Bergh has worked as teacher and school leader in compulsory school, and as Director of Education at the National Agency for Education. In higher education, he teaches in PhD-courses, teacher education and the national school leadership training programme.

Biography
Berghs' area of research is in the field of Curriculum Theory with a specific interest in education policy, issues of quality and the professional roles of teachers and school leaders. He is currently engaged in studies of school segregation, teachers’ rebellion groups on Facebook and juridification. In previous research projects, he has studied academic development work in higher education, teachers’ anti-racist actions and the use of promotion and prevention programmes in school.
Bergh is on the editorial committee for the research journal Utbildning & Demokrati (Education & Democracy) and a member of the research groups STEP (Studies in Educational Policy and Philosophy) at Uppsala University and Utbildning och Demokrati (Education and Democracy) at Örebro University.

Andreas Berghs forskning berör i vid mening relationen mellan samhälle och utbildning, med intresse för kontextuella villkor, språkanvändning, iscensättning och professionellt handlingsutrymme inom områden som utbildningspolitik, styrning, kvalitet, juridifiering, segregation, rasism, värdefrågor, pedagogiskt utvecklingsarbete samt lärares och skolledares yrkesutövning och ledarskap.
Aktuell forskning
Aktuell forskning riktas mot frågor om skolsegregation, lärarrollen och juridifiering:
Lokala initiativ för att bryta skolsegregation studeras dels genom två följeforskningsprojekt på uppdrag av Örebro kommun (Vivallaskolan) respektive Linköpings kommun (Skäggetorpsskolan), dels genom ett projekt finansierat av Vetenskapsrådet (VR 2020-04294). Bedrivs tillsammans med Emma Arneback, Jan Jämte och Anders Trumberg.
Lärares uppror på Facebook studeras inom ett Vetenskapsrådsfinansierat projekt (VR 2020-03-144) med målet att förstå vad detta kan säga oss om den svenska skolan och dess lärare i en samtid som präglas av förändringar i välfärdssystemet. Bedrivs tillsammans med Annica Löfdahl Hultman och Håkan Löfgren.
Ett tredje område handlar om relationen mellan utbildning och juridifiering, vilket utgår från att skolans verksamhet i allt högre grad har blivit föremål för nya och förstärkta rättsliga regleringar (se exempelvis temanummer i U&D nr 1 2016). Mellan 2022 och 2024 genomförs det av Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (P21-0148) finansierade projektet Vad händer med skolan när barnkonventionen blir lag? Förutom Andreas, som är projektledare, medverkar Emma Arneback, Tomas Englund och Lotta Lerwall. Till projektet associeras även Maria Rosén.
Tidigare forskning
Tidigare forskning omfattar följande projekt som Andreas har varit medsökande och medverkande i: Hur rasism kan bemötas i utbildning. En kvalitativ studie av lärares antirasistiska handlingar (VR 2015-01046), Formation and Competence Building of University Academic Developers (projekt om pedagogiska utvecklare i högre utbildning, finansierat av Forskningsrådet i Norge) samt En värdefull skola – en studie av värdepremisser i främjande och förebyggande program i skolan i relation till skolans värdegrund och till barnkonventionen (VR 2010-5697). Andreas har även medverkat i projektet En teoribaserad utvärdering av läroplanen Lgr 11 (finansierat av Institutet för arbetsmarknads- och utbildningspolitisk utvärdering, IFAU).
Mellan åren 2014-2016 hade Andreas en postdoktoranställning i pedagogik med inriktning mot arbetslivet, vid Uppsala universitet. Han disputerade 2010 med avhandlingen Vad gör kvalitet med utbildning? Om kvalitetsbegreppets skilda innebörder och dess konsekvenser för utbildning (Örebro Studies in Education, 29).
Forskningsmiljö
Andreas ingår i två forskningsmiljöer: STEP (Studies in Educational Policy and Philosophy) vid Uppsala universitet samt Utbildning och Demokrati vid Örebro universitet, vilken han leder tillsammans med tre andra kollegor.
