Research
Before joining Uppsala University, I studied music and musicology and worked as a researcher and teacher in Germany (Humboldt University Berlin) and the USA (Stanford).
I've received ten scholarships from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Stanford Humanities Center, European Network for Musicological Research, Längmanska Kulturfonden, Riksbankens Jubileumsfonden, and other foundations. I have organized eleven conferences and event series in Germany, the United States, and Sweden.
Es an editor, I have contributed to the publication of the collected writings of Carl Dahlhaus (11 volumes, 2000-08) and the Festschrift for Hermann Danuser Ereignis und Exegese (2011).
My research areas are 18th-century music (especially C.P.E. Bach), music and media (especially film), and K-pop. I have published Bach's essay on keyboard playing for Collected Works (volumes VII.1-3), and a new translation will soon be published online. My post-doc thesis examined J.S. Bach's music in film. I have also written several articles in the Journal of Film Music and anthologies. I have recently published an article on K-pop in the journal Musiktheorie and organized a K-pop conference at Uppsala University in June 2025 together with Anders Reuter and Naoko Takayanagi.
