Biography
I am currently a doctoral candidate in Political Science with a focus on social security, particularly pension systems, and their impact on migrants' financial security. My research is part of the project Aging Migrants, Labor Market Transitions and the Welfare State, a collaboration between the Department of Economics and the Department of Political Science. Within this project, I investigate how pension systems shape migrants' opportunities for financial security and the implications for the development of welfare states. Before starting my doctoral studies, I worked as a research assistant on the project, where I contributed to the development of the data collection.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Mexico's Center for Research andTeaching in Economics (CIDE). I also have two master's degrees: one in Welfare Policies and Management from Lund University and one in Political Science from Uppsala University.
In addition to my academic career, I have valuable experience in the public sector. In Mexico, I worked for the federal government at the Secretary of Tourism, where I supported and monitored the implementation of the National Agreement for Tourism (Acuerdo Nacional por el Turismo), a national agreement signed by over a hundred stakeholders to promote Mexico’s tourism sector. I also worked at the State Employees' Social Security and Social Services Institute (ISSSTE), where I was responsible for international collaborations and academic activities. During my time in Sweden, I had the opportunity to intern at the Mexican Embassy in Stockholm in their Economic and Political Affairs section as well as at SIPU International. In Mexico, I interned as a research assistant for Professor Lorena Ruano, gathering empirical material on Mexican-European relations.
While my primary research interest lies in social security, particularly pension systems, I have recently become interested in the relationship between religion and social policy. My academic focus is primarily institutional.
I am passionate about improving the quality of teaching and promoting a deeper understanding of social and administrative policies. I have taught courses on the politics of public administration and am currently teaching research methods at the C-level. I believe universities should not only strive to offer high-quality research but also education that evolves at the same pace.
I speak Spanish, English, and Swedish, and I am committed to promoting international collaboration and contributing to global discussions on social policy.
