Short presentation
My thesis Immigrants in Ink: A History of Race, Nation, and Gender in Swedish-American Newspapers 1860–1920 examines Swedish-American newspaper publishing in Chicago between 1850-1920. I ask questions about how the Swedish-language press in Chicago worked and how it changed over time. Focusing on issues of race, ethnicity, gender and nationality, I examine how boundaries were drawn in the newspaper discourse.
