Biography

I have worked in the field of industrial management and organisation studies throughout my academic career, holding several academic positions both in and outside Sweden. I received my PhD in Management Science in 2011 from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, where I subsequently worked as Assistant Professor and Adjunct from 2012 to 2019.

From January to June 2015, I held a postdoctoral position in Business Administration at the Gothenburg Research Institute, under the supervision of Professor Barbara Czarniawska. The position was funded by the Swedish Institute (Visby Programme).

In January 2018, I relocated permanently to Sweden and took up a part-time position as University Lecturer at the Stockholm Business School. From 2019 to 2021, I worked as Assistant Professor in Business Administration (Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management and Leadership) at Jönköping International Business School.

Since January 2022, I have been employed as Associate Professor in Industrial Management and Engineering at Uppsala University. In 2025, I was appointed Docent in Engineering Science with Specialisation in Industrial Engineering and Management.

Research

My research has consistently been informed by critical theory, with a particular focus on industrial management and organisation studies. In 2011, I defended my doctoral thesis, “Organisational Culture from a Critical Management Studies Perspective”, which was later published as the first book on Critical Management Studies (CMS) in Poland.

Throughout my academic career, I have been actively engaged in critical discussions on higher education. My work has explored critical pedagogy in engineering and management education, neoliberal transformations of the contemporary university, and critical analyses of the entrepreneurial self in management education. I have also contributed to critical research on entrepreneurship and technology.

In 2022, together with Jenny Helin, I received funding from the Educational Development Funds (PUMA, Uppsala University) for the project “Integrating Sustainability in Engineering and Management Education through Arts-Based Interventions.” The project was completed in 2024.

My current research projects include:

  • the role of AI in leadership dynamics in creative industries
  • the development of leadership skills among engineering students through artistic interventions
  • workplace bullying in STEM departments at Swedish universities

Media

Public Engagement

My research actively contributes to public debate on higher education, leadership and academic work conditions. It has been featured in Swedish national media, including:

Through these engagements, I contribute to ongoing societal discussions on sustainability in education, academic labour conditions and the future of the university.
