Dolores Calvo

Short presentation

Dolores Calvo is a researcher and teacher at the Department of Government. She is currently working on a project on implementation of policies against sexual corruption in Tanzania, dealing with questions of abuse of power, sexual abuse, gender norms, coercion, and consent. She is part of the steering group of the Uppsala University Research Environment on Sexual Corruption. She also works as consultant in different projects related to gender, development and gender-based violence.

Biography

Dolores holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Gothenburg (2013). Her PhD thesis on gender and gender mainstreaming at EU level analyses discourses and representations of gender, policy developments of gender equality legislation, and the mainstreaming of gender in different policy areas with particular focus on migration, asylum and development cooperation policies. Dolores is currently working on a project on implementation of policies against sexual corruption in Tanzania, including questions of abuse of power, sexual abuse, gender norms, coercion and consent. She is part of the steering group of the Uppsala University Research Environment on Sexual Corruption, led by Professor Elin Bjarnegård. She also works as a researcher and consultant, collaborating with NGOs and government agencies in the following fields: gender, women’s reproductive rights, gender-based violence, sexual corruption, development and grassroots movements.
