Research
Promoting offshore wind in Europe: A comparative analysis of the legal frameworks in Europe’s pioneering states
My PhD research project contains a comparative analysis of the laws and funding measures of Europe’s pioneering states in the renewable energy sector and (offshore) wind energy: Sweden, Germany, and the UK. Sweden reaches the highest share of renewables in Europe, Germany registers the highest cumulative wind energy capacity, and the UK is Europe’s pioneer in offshore wind. By comparing these states’ legal frameworks, the research project intends to identify best-practice laws and measures to promote the green energy transition, aiming to create a legal guide on how to enhance Europe’s offshore wind energy development with the levers of the law.
