Wendi Guo

Short presentation

Hi, I’m Wendi Guo, a Postdoctoral Fellow at Uppsala University working with Prof. Daniel Brandell. My research focuses on battery degradation, digital twins, and physics-informed AI models for lithium-ion batteries, particularly under V2G applications. I hold a Ph.D. from Aalborg University (AAU Energy), and have conducted research visits to Chalmers, Imperial College London, and TUM. I’m passionate about developing reliable, safe, and intelligent battery systems for the smart energy transition.

Biography

Wendi Guo received her B.Sc. degree in Safety Engineering and M.Eng. degree in Reliability Engineering from Beihang University, Beijing, China, in 2018 and 2021, respectively. She completed her Ph.D. at Aalborg University, Denmark, where her research focused on physics-informed machine learning for predicting lithium-ion battery degradation behavior.

She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow working with Prof. Daniel Brandell, focusing on mitigating battery degradation and ensuring safe operation in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications. Wendi has held visiting research positions at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) and Imperial College London (UK), and she also visited the EES group at Technische Universität München (Germany).

She was awarded the Best Poster Award at the 2024 IPEMC ECCE Asia Conference and received a travel grant for early career researchers at the 245th ECS Conference held in San Francisco. Wendi actively contributes to the academic community by serving as a reviewer for nine top journals and by participating in the creation of the white book “Power Semiconductors for an Energy-Wise Society.”

Research

Her research interests include digital twins based on multiphysics modeling, the development of physics-informed AI models for AI-enabled digital twins, in-situ and operando degradation mechanism testing, smart charging protocol development, and battery reliability.
