Short presentation
Eva-Lotta Funkquist is an Associate Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Women's and Children's Health, where she is responsible for the Specialist Nursing Program with a focus on pediatric healthcare. She is a pediatric nurse and midwife. Her research interests include breastfeeding, infant sleep, and parental well-being. She is also involved in research projects related to children and pain, as well as complementary methods for procedural pain management.
Biography
Eva-Lotta Funkquist is a pediatric nurse and midwife. She works clinically in the maternity ward at Akademiska Hospital. She teaches and is responsible for the Specialist Nursing Program in Pediatric Healthcare. Additionally, Eva-Lotta teaches in the Nursing Program and the course on Breastfeeding and Breast Milk.
Research
Eva-Lotta Funkquist is responsible for the Breastfeeding Study at Uppsala University. This study is a research project aimed at improving breastfeeding support throughout the entire healthcare chain, including maternity clinics, hospitals, and child healthcare services. The Breastfeeding Study is developed based on two scientific theoretical frameworks: attachment theory and self-efficacy theory. The project includes staff training, improved care routines, and the development of informational materials for parents.
To date, four doctoral students have completed their dissertations within the project: Emma Gerhardsson, Paola Oras, Ingrid Blixt, and Maria Wickström. Currently, two doctoral students are actively engaged in the Breastfeeding Study: Erika Andresén and Nicolé Evensson. Ongoing projects within the study are being conducted in the regions of Uppsala, Sörmland, and Gävleborg.
