Short presentation

I am an associate professor with a PhD in economic history from the Department of Economic History. I work as researcher as well as being the Director of Studies at the Department.

Biography

I stated my PhD studies at the Department of Economic History at Uppsala university in 2009 and became a PhD in 2014. In 2022 I became Docent in the same subject.

In my dissertation (214) I tried to explain how and why immigrants came to concentrate on the metal and engineering industry in the decades after the end of World War II.

Since then, I have been involved in a number of research projects. These include two comparative international projects coordinated by the European Social Observatory, the first of which dealt with welfare through collective agreements or employment (so-called occupational welfare) and the second with the social partners' views on and involvement in the European Semester.

In a study funded by IFAU I investigated the Swedish Medical Association and the Association for Health Professionals attitude and policy in relation to doctors and nurses trained abroad, which ended in 2017.

Together with Jan Ottosson, I have recently run a research project funded by Forte on the growth of security and adjustment agreements.

In recent years, I have devoted my work to two different problem areas. First, economic defense planning in Sweden during the Cold War (through a project funded by the Swedish Research Council). Second, cooperation between authorities and parties in the fight against workplace crime (through a project funded by Forte).

I have teached, or have taught, in several courses, in both Swedish and English, and at both basic and advanced level. For a couple of years, I shared the responsibility for the introductory course in the Economics program at Business Administration A. I have also been involved and designed, developed and been responsible for a number of courses.

Research

My main research interest concerns immigrants in the labor market as well as the Swedish labor market, industrial relations and labor market policies during the post-war period.

Since a couple of years I also study the history of Economic Defence planning as a part of Swedish total defence during the Post-War period and the Cold War.
