Research

My research has primarily focused on questions concerning human rights, the contribution of theology to politics and democracy, and the impact of globalization on ethics and ethical reflection. With regard to human rights, my work has addressed how we can understand their ethical, political, and legal dimensions, and what it means to claim that human rights are universal rights and rights held by persons with disabilities.

An area to which I have increasingly devoted my attention is peace ethics and contemporary forms of pacifism. In an ongoing project, I examine how a critical political pacifism can be developed and what kind of contribution such a position may offer to current ethical‑political debates.
